The meeting was called to order by president, Scott Woogen at 5:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Those present by phone were: Scott Woogen, Betsy Brown, Billy Carter, Stacey McLenghan, Tyler Shehan, Tracy Bradshaw, Leon Harris and Debbie Warnick. A quorum was declared.
MEETING MINUTES: The minutes from the meeting held on January 11, 2024 were reviewed and approved as written.
TREASURER’S REPORT: The treasurer’s report for January 2024 was reviewed.
OLD BUSINESS:

NEW BUSINESS:
Item 1. HHYF Donation
Betsy moved and Billy seconded that we continue our donation of $5,000 to the HHYF. The motion passed unanimously.
Item 2. Breeders Fund Dates
Debbie presented the proposed dates for the 2023 Breeders’ Fund races. They are as follows:
Three year old trot eliminations- Sept 28 & Oct 5, 2024
Three year old pace eliminations- Sept 29 & Oct 6, 2024
Two year old trot eliminations- Oct 12 & Oct 19, 2024
Two year old pace eliminations- Oct 13 & Oct 20, 2024
Finals for all sexes & gaits- October 27, 2024
Aged races for trotters & paces- October 27, 2024
Scott moved and Billy seconded that these dates be approved. The motion passed unanimously.
Item 3. Training on Track
Betsy asked if use of the track for training would be allowed before the meet started. Scott stated that this would be a VEA decision. Betsy will reach out to JD and Jeb.
Item 4. Director of Racing
Debbie announced that the VEA has hired Pete Szymanski as the Director of Racing. Pete will oversee the race office and track. Darrell Wood will continue as Director of Operations and oversee all aspects of the race meet.
Item 5. Spring Meet Hay
Debbie reported that since hay is no longer be provided for the race meet by the VEA Darren Olsen will be bringing a tractor trailer of hay that will be available for purchase by the horsemen.
As there was no further business to be discussed, Scott Woogen adjourned the meeting at 5:45 p.m.
